Antalya is Turkey's biggest international sea resort, located on the Turkish Riviera. In 2012, the city became the third most visited city in the world by number of international arrivals, ranking just behind Paris and London. The reason for it being so popular; apart from its rich and ancient history dating back to third century BC, is that it offers unrivaled natural beauty on all sides.
The Old Town is the picturesque old quarter in the city center of present day Antalya. With its narrow winding streets and historic wooden houses, bars, restaurants and Ottoman-style boutique hotels, it’s a lovely place to walk around.
Duden Waterfalls makes for a pleasant side trip from Antalya and its surrounding gardens are a popular picnic spot with locals. The Duden river extends from the Taurus mountains all the way to the Mediterranean and creates two cascades known as the Upper and Lower Duden Waterfalls.
The Upper Duden waterfall is 15 meters (49 feet) high, 20 meters (65 feet) wide and set in a pretty valley. A natural cave has formed behind the falls and it is possible to sit here and watch the cascades. There are restaurants, boardwalks and picnic tables in the gardens surrounding the falls to help you make the most of this scenic spot.
Manavgat Waterfalls on the Manavgat River is an hour’s drive away from the city. The falls are best viewed from a high altitude. This is one of the best places to unwind while enjoying natural beauty amidst pine trees. Do relax your feet in the cold water!

Our first stop will be Kaymakli Underground City ; found under the hill in the middle of the town and was discovered and opened to public in 1964. Although only four levels of underground city can be visited, it is not known how many levels it originally had.
Like other underground cities, this one was also built by the people who converted to Christianity to avoid persecution. They used this place both as a shelter and a safe place for worship. Although the city seems to be a dis-organized layout of rooms and tunnels, great care and skill were used when it was dug out. Over here, one room never joins another. Among the interesting places and things that can be seen during the visit are bedrooms, depots for foods, wine cellars, air shafts, water reservoirs, a church with two apsis and millstone doors to stop any danger that could come from outside. The millstone doors, just like in other underground cities, were placed on the tunnels and could only be opened from inside.
Devrent Valley is also called Pink Valley. It is possible to see interesting rock formations from the road that goes through the valley.
The old city of Avanos overlooks the longest river of Turkey - Red River. The ancient name of this city used to be Venessa. The most famous historical feature of Avanos, which is still relevant and very visible today, is its production of earthenware pottery. The ceramic trade in this district and its countless pottery factories date right back to the Hittites.

The Hippodrome was once the heart of Constantinople’s political and sporting life, and the scene of games and riots through 500 years of Ottoman history. Today, it is a city park called the At Meydani (Horse Grounds) because of its function in the Ottoman times. The Hippodrome includes the 3,500 year old Egyptian granite Obelisk, brought to Constantinople by Emperor Theodosius in 390 AD from Old Delhi.
Blue Mosque is one of the most famous monuments in both the Turkish and Islamic worlds. Also known as the Sultan Ahmet Mosque, this is a superb example of classical Ottoman architecture. The mosque has six towering minarets and 260 windows illuminating its vast main chamber, which is decorated with more than 20,000 Iznik tiles.
Grand Bazaar is in operation since the 14th century and it is one of the world's largest covered markets with 58 streets and over 4,000 shops inside. The bazaar is specially known for its jewelry, leather, pottery, spices and carpets. (Please note that it's closed on Sunday; additional time will be spent at the other locations like the Spice Market.)
